His favorite sport by far is hockey. Tony swears he did not push hockey but J.R. just naturally fell in LOVE with hockey. J.R. has the full garb; helmet, knee pads, elbow pads, shin guards, sticks, gloves and skates! Tony has a theory that J.R. may enjoy putting the equipment on a little more than actually playing hockey. When I pick J.R. up from his daycare he runs out of daycare yelling," hockey now, hockey now." I put him in his car seat, he watches hockey in the car then when he gets home he runs up to his dad yelling, "hockey now, hockey now daddy". J.R. will play hockey until he drops. He wakes up asking for hockey and goes to bed asking for hockey. This little guy can't get enough. When he first started playing hockey he wore his dad's hockey helmet for a week straight!
The other night we were very surprised when he took a liking to basketball. He played for about 30 minutes. When he makes a basket he lifts his arms in the air and yells, "Two Points"! He also likes to yell out what he's doing, as he tries to make a basket he'll say dunk or jump shot. Sometimes his jump shot ends up behind him but it's the effort that counts right?
Last night he actually sat down to watch the Bears game with his dad. Tony told him it was the Chicago Bears. J.R. then proceeded to yell, "Chicago Bears" over and over again. He wanted to call his Papa in Chicago so we called and the only thing J.R. would say was, "Chicago Bears Papa, Chicago Bears Papa". J.R. likes to play with his Hooters football. He sticks both arms straight out and shuts his eyes as you throw the football to him. J.R. is crazy about his daddy. He doesn't want his daddy to sit down, he always wants his daddy to run around and play. The picture of the both of them sitting is rare!
His first favorite sport was baseball a few months ago. He has a tee, glove, bat and ball. He likes to hit the ball off the tee and better yet he'll go fetch the ball and put it back on the tee himself! Tony throws J.R. grounders but J.R. has yet to figure out he can stop the ball with his glove, he tries to use his hands! So far that covers what my little guy is interested in... sports, sports and more sports!
