The last few nights as I'm walking out his bedroom door after putting him in his crib J.R. will say, "now you go in your bed mama, okay".
Tony was playing with J.R. the other day while J.R. was home sick. J.R. wanted to play "football" with Tony. Tony said he could play for a little bit then had to go to work. After about 10 minutes of playing out of no where J.R. says, "Daddy, one more time then you go to work, okay?"

6 hour flu??
I got a call yesterday from J.R.'s school saying he was resting during nap time and he got sick all over his bed. It smelled like sour milk and didn't eat any lunch so they called me to pick up my little boy.
I walked into the school and J.R. was laying on a plastic mat next to a bucket. He didn't even get up when I walked in, he just laid there:(
We got home and he wanted to lay in his crib (cwib). He slept for about an hour and he got sick again but this time it was just clear liquid (thank goodness). After this he wanted to lay in "Daddy's bed" so we put towels all over the bed and let him lay in bed while Tony worked on his computer on the couch in our bedroom while J.R. watched Sponge Bob Square Pants. J.R. got bored there so he wanted to go downstairs. He got sick one more time downstairs, clear liquid again but after that he came alive.. literally... J.R. was dancing to the Wiggles, running and jumping and asking for chips and milk. He's been fine ever since.
So we only had 6 hours of sickness... thank goodness! What a trooper my little boy! He woke up this morning asking for pancakes and sausage. He's back to normally but we're keeping him home today. Yesterday I promised him he could stay home and he suckered me into it this morning.

Batting Cages
J.R. has been asking all week to go to the batting cages. Last night after school we finally took him. He did wonderful, he hit the ball about 10 times! Once he hit the ball so hard his bat flew out of his hand! Here's some pictures.

Mama's going to work.
As I was walking J.R. into his school today we saw his classroom playing in their side yard riding bikes. I asked J.R. if he was able to ride a bike yet and he said "yes!", very proudly. I asked J.R. if mama could watch him ride his bike this morning. He said, "No, you have to go to work." Funny guy!

First Trip to Disney Land!
J.R. made his first trip to Disneyland. The bonus was he was 2 years old, if he had been 3, he would have cost us $100! He loved it, he was so excited! We went with my friend Margie and her great grandson Rowan who's almost 4 years old. It was nice that J.R. got to spend time with an older boy, hopefully the urge to go potty in the toilet will hit J.R. now that he saw another friend do it! Here's the pictures... enjoy!

Bumper Cars!
It's a Small World ride was their favorite.
Riding the Ferris wheel... not my favorite.

Safety First!
Every time I buckle J.R. in his car seat I always say, "Safety first, Buckle up" hoping that when J.R. is old enough to drive a car that's the first thing he hears in his head and he will wear his seat belt!
Today when I brought him home from school I turned the corner into our gated community and pressed the remote for the community gate to open. I typically unbuckle my seat belt at that point because our house is right there at the front of the gate. I didn't even realize I did this until J.R. said "Mama don't unbuckle your seat belt, be safe." once I turned the corner and my hands were on the seat belt ready to unbuckle.
I love this kid, he's so adorable in my eyes.
Here's a picture I took of J.R. Tuesday morning while eating breakfast before school. Now that it's summer every day is water day and he goes to school in his swimsuit. He has 3 pairs of sunglasses. He always complains when he's in the car and the sun is in his eyes asking me to take away the sun....

First Movie and First Play!
We had a fun filled weekend. Sandi came to spend the weekend. J.R. played hockey with his daddy Saturday and Saturday night we went to Thomas the Train! He LOVED Thomas the train, I was surprised! He was such a good boy. He was dancing in his seat and singing along, well trying!
Today, I tried for the second time (first time was when J.R. was 18 months old, he only lasted 15 minutes) to take J.R. to a movie. We saw Kung Fu Panda 2 and we stayed for the entire movie. J.R. was so adorable, pointing out how the animals were feeling during the movie, eg "He feel mad". Sandi was with us and she shared a big bag of popcorn with J.R.
J.R. did so well at the movie, we may try another one in a few weeks and we will go to the next kids play that comes to town, for sure!
Next weekend, we're off to Disney Land, J.R.'s first trip. We're going with Margie and her grandson Roland, who's three. J.R. doesn't understand what Disney Land is... but I'm sure he'll LOVE it!

Playing the BEAR game!
Last night J.R., Tony and I were playing the Bear game. J.R. picks who the bear is and the other two hold hands and run from the bear.
At first it was just J.R. and I in the room playing. J.R. said to me, "You are the BEAR. You go in the other room mama, okay." I was astounded at his big sentence and how clear it was.. as I was sitting there in amazement.. J.R. was getting impatient and said, "Go ahead mama, go ahead."
These sound like simple commands and they are; I just can't believe my little guy is talking like this... he's not so little anymore.

First trip to the Heartland!
J.R. and family went to Des Moines last weekend. It was a sad occasion but we made it as fun as possible. We laid my grandmother's cremains to rest. It was hard but something we had to do. Grandma we love you and will always have you with us in our hearts!
So during the ceremony J.R.'s Godmother Julie watched J.R. at her house. This was their first time alone together. It looked like they had a blast. Julie, J.R.'s godmother has a park by her house. Here's a picture of J.R. coming down the slide. No words necessary.
We went to a I-cubs baseball game Saturday night. Auntie JuJu (J.R.'s Godmother) bought J.R. a baseball and I-cubs hat! He loved the game, Julie got us seats in the first row behind the Cubs dugout. When J.R. got up the next morning, the first thing he asked for was his hat and ball. Here's J.R. at the hotel outside playing Sunday morning.
Thanks Papa Chuck for exhausting J.R. that afternoon. J.R. had his best flight yet, he slept the WHOLE way!
J.R. has had a big week this week. It was his first day at his new school. Here's a picture of J.R. with his new backpack getting in the car his first day of school.
The first day I called to check on him and they said he did great, he ate a big lunch (they walk to the lunch room for lunch) and he was going with the flow. When I called at 1pm, during nap time, they said he was sitting on his mat, not sleeping but chatting away using all his words. They commented that he has LOTS of words for a child his age. This morning was his second day and he broke my heart. He said he wanted to go to Karen's, he didn't want to go there to Candilhall. As I was walking him into the building he said, "Mama you come with me right, no leave." I told him, "yes, I'll come in with you". He smiled. We walked in his classroom together and the kids were outside playing. He held on tight to my hand as we went outside. The teacher said it would be best if left right away. So I pryed my fingers from J.R.'s hands while he was sobbing for me. It was so hard and I could still hear him as I walked out to my car.
This is a great school. They are having favorite stuffed animal day tomorrow, water day the next day and Friday a family BBQ for lunch! J.R. will get use to his new school, I just hope it's sooner rather than later.

Our flight didn't leave until 9:50pm Sunday night. It was a long day but we ended up spending the afternoon with Julie and her parents, Chuck and Mary. Papa Chuck (J.R. named him) took J.R. out in his golf cart. Yes, that is a picture of J.R. driving! He loved it, so much so he cried when he couldn't drive the car back to the hotel. After the cart ride Papa Chuck took J.R. out to hit some golf balls. J.R. had a blast! He hit a few "good shots" for a 2 year old. We figured out J.R. was a lefty!
